Real talk, today I want to talk about your how you will never, ever achieve your goals. Before we start get yourself a cup of tea because I think you’re going to need the comfort.
Since starting my weight loss/fitness/ healthy living journey, I’ve been actively involved in empowering women to do the same. The irony is that I went about it in a really unhealthy way and had to start my journey all over again. But, that’s a post for another day. Today, we’re talking about you and why you’re never going to succeed.
I want you to guess what the number one thing that I am told by countless women who want to lose weight or get healthy. I’m almost 100% sure that you’ve probably said these very words too, and I know for a fact that I have. Hell, I probably said them this past week – I’m only human.
If you guessed “I want to lose weight”, you’re 50% right, now just add the BUT…
Admit it, you’ve uttered that one little coordinating conjunction on more than one occasion, right? I know I have, and it’s stifling our progress. Yes, our progress because we’re all in this together and that’s why I’m telling you this – it’s because I care about you.
You know the excuses that follow too, don’t you?
- I don’t have time.
- I’m a mom.
- It’s too expensive.
- It’s hard.
- My goldfish ate my eating plan.
- Insert excuse of choice here…
I understand that there are challenges to weight loss and healthy living, eff knows that I’ve faced those challenges myself and had to overcome them in order to achieve my goals. All of your but’s are ruining any chance of success that you might have of living that life you’re dreaming of.
I’m not going to sugar coat this, but your excuses are lame. Short of you suddenly losing your limbs in a freak accident, you don’t have ANY reason why that damned but needs to be part of your plans. Now, before you even start thinking about why I’m wrong about this, ask yourself one simple question: why do you want this change?
Is it for you? Your kids or husband? Do you want to look amazing again, or feel healthy and full of life? Why have you decided to get off your butt to change your life?
I honestly started my weight loss journey because I was tired of being tired and sick. I’ve had a whole lot of challenges to deal with and succeeded, but I’ve also failed spectacularly along the way. The thing that changed for me was when I started replacing my but with solutions.
So, you have kids and you don’t know how to work around that. There are very few gyms that don’t offer some form of child minding service to their members.
Ah, but it’s too expensive! How much money do you need to stop eating crap? If you have enough money to eat fast food, you have enough money to buy fruit and veg. Did you know that the average cost to treat heart disease is R 505,890.00.
I don’t know where to start. Funny thing about the internet, it has a lot of information you can use. Seriously, try Googling home workout for beginners and you’ll find more information than you can shake a stick at.
What’s the moral of the story here? Your excuses are lame, and you need to drop them if you really want to achieve your goals.
Instead of adding excuses to your goals, add solutions. Add a plan of action to your goal, map out how you’re going to achieve the life you want to live and go and get it. It’s your choice to make, you decided to live a healthy life so go out and do it.
If you are honestly more concerned about finding ways around success, then maybe success isn’t for you. But, if you want to change your life for good, start with your mindset.
I love hearing from you, so feel free to drop a comment below.
Until next time.
