Reviewing Smashbox Be Legendary Lipstick

I’m completely obsessed with makeup, so when I was gifted a few Smashbox goodies, I was in my element. I’m always looking for a great, cruelty-free product that really works and Smashbox delivers.

Today I want to talk about the matte Be Legendary lipstick in Infrared. I am a sucker for a good red lip, so getting red lipstick is basically the best thing you can do for me. I really wish that I’d photographed this before – I have used it so often already.

IMG_2796Smashbox is one of the brands that I get to work with for my day job, so I’m not unfamiliar with the product at all. This is also how I got gifted all these lovely goodies in the first place – let’s be real, I’m no celeb (yet).
A first glance the packaging is bold, yet simple and distinctive. The rectangular shaped container is in matte black with the distinctive Smashbox lettering printed at the base. It is perfectly sized and the red is gorge for Valentine’s Day. I’m not one for Valentine’s Day but if you’re going to leave lipstick on your fella’s collar, it may as well be this one.
The formula is hydrating, which is perfect for people with dry lips – like mine. I’ve said it in the past and I’ll say it again, matte lipsticks and I aren’t friends because of how dry my lips are. But that’s not going to stop me from wearing them. So it really helps if the formula is creamy and moisturizing so that I’m not dealing with flaky lips.
Another big plus is that the lipstick doesn’t run. There is nothing worse and when you get to the end of your day and your lipstick is bleeding down your face. Now I know a good primer will stop this and lip liner is a must, but sometimes a girl doesn’t have time for those things while she’s applying lipstick in her car before a meeting.
Another reason why the Smashbox lippy is such a hit. Not only is it perfect to slip into your handbag, but the pigmentation is amazing.  It is not going to run and it will last as long as you need it to. I’m not saying you can eat an apple with this lipstick on, but that’s probably because I haven’t tried.  Best yet, it is cruelty free.
Smashbox is available at Woolworths, Red Square Stores and Foschini.

As always, I love hearing from you so leave your thoughts below.Until next time.
