Let’s Talk Periods.

If you’re one of those people who get weird when we talk about periods, look away. Also, you should know that my 14-year old isn’t even weird about periods and he doesn’t even get them.

Now that I’ve gotten that out of the way, let’s talk about period alternatives and keeping your vagina a happy girl. I have long sung the praises on using a Menstruation Cup or natural alternative to tampons and pads.
So when my last cycle snuck up on me a little and I had to revert to an emergency tampon run from the corner café, my vagina HATED me.

That is not for dramatic effect either.

I could instantly feel the irritation in and around my vagina after using a mainstream brand. While the debate between switching to organic, chemical-free alternatives vs. tried and tested products will rage on forever, the vagina is a thin, mucous membrane that absorbs toxins and chemicals easier than your outer skin.
So wouldn’t you want to ensure you’re using something that won’t harm you? On my personal journey to a healthier way of living, I prefer to use organic tampons to limit my exposure to non-organic things, like pesticides and dyes.

Besides, it doesn’t hurt that it’s better on the environment to find re-usable alternatives. For those emergency moments where you need a tampon and fast, I highly recommend Ava Secrets as my go-to.
Not only are they reasonably priced, but the packaging is pretty AF too. I also use their Menstrual Cup which is super soft and comfortable.
For sanitary pads, I’m all on board the ANNA Pure Organics bus. Equally cost effect and made for both you and the environment, I am team ANNA all the way for pads any day.

Not a sponsored post, but being happy on your period goes beyond a hot water bottle and box of chocolates – your vagina deserves a little attention too.
