I wasn’t always a morning person. I hated mornings, I was teased for years by my mother for being the grumpiest human on earth come the AM. But grumpy pants isn’t a lifestyle choice I resonate with anymore, so I changed.
I’ll tell you more about that another time though, for now – here are what morning habits you can adopt in your every day to elevate your life.
Join the 5am Club
Before you laugh this off, think of how much you could do in that extra hour? You know how we’re always complaining that there aren’t enough hours in the day? Well, this is how you make time. I hated waking up early, but now that it is habit I naturally wake up at 5am.
Hydrate, don’t Hybernate
It’s easy to succumb to the lure of the snooze button. Five more minutes can easily become 30 minutes and you’ve lost the sweetest part of your day – your me time. So instead of hitting snooze, get up and go wash your face and drink a glass of water.
You’ll get a head start on hydration and the cool water will wake you up too.
Attitude of Gratitude
I’m no stranger to the power of gratitude journalling. Each morning, I take time to write out 3 to 5 things I’m grateful for in my life. These can be as light hearted or as deep as you need them to be for you.
While you have your journal out, why not start writing out goals too? I write each goal that I have for the present and future as if they’ve already happened.
So, instead of saying I want to lose weight, I write I’m comfortable and love my skin since dropping x weight.
That small change in how you write, gives BIG power to your positivity.
Have you Meditated Lately?
My final thing to do before I start the hustle of my day is take 10 to 20 minutes of meditation. This could look like prayer for you, but it’s so important to take time to organize your thoughts and let go of the ones that don’t serve you anymore.
Amazing apps to consider are Calm, Insight Timer or even search for meditations on YouTube if you’re just starting out.
There you have it, my go-to morning routine that I try knock out before getting the rest of the house hold up and at ’em.
Are you going to try any of these habits to start your day? Thanks for joining me, see you again soon!
